Yoshkar-Ola amazes its guests with the proximity of European architecture with an original Russian style. It is possible to fully realize this already during the first sightseeing tour. Going for a walk around the city, with or without a guide, you should definitely visit the Patriarchal Square with its 12 Apostles complex, a puppet theater and the picturesque sculptural fountain of Peter and Fevronia, the embankment of Brugge- as if copied from Western European cities, or Obolensky-Nogotkov Square with its famous Tsar Cannon. Excurzilla also advises visiting Republic Square and admiring the "Gabriel Archangel" fountain or the Tsarevokokshaysky Kremlin. The latter regularly hosts Mari honey fairs. A jar of your favorite goodies can be purchased at fairly low prices.
