Marmaris is a Turkish resort famous for yachts and yachting. Dozens of yachts moor each month in the port of Marmaris so that their passengers can see the sights of this Turkish pearl. By the way, here you can order any excursions in Turkey.
The deck of the yacht offers completely different views of the city. But do not think that you need to have hundreds of thousands of dollars to afford a trip on your own yacht. There is a $ 12 tour that is available to every tourist. Of course, we are talking about a group excursion on a large and spacious yacht.
What do the guides promise?
Before buying an excursion, tourists are usually shown a colorful booklet in which you can trace the route of the yacht on the map.
For advertising purposes, the stops have sonorous names. For example, "Fish Farm" or "Turtle Cave". But in fact, these are ordinary quiet bays where tourists will be offered to swim. Therefore, you should not expect something supernatural.
Usually the yacht departs from the pier located in the center of Marmaris. The landmark is the monument to the famous Ataturk. Yacht tickets can be purchased both in advance and immediately before sailing.
One or two places will almost always be found. Payment in cash, it is most convenient to pay in small dollars on account. Change is given, but often in lira and at an unfavorable rate. It is not very profitable to pay in liras, as on board the yacht its course may be underestimated.
Also, excursion sellers promise meals on board. They call it All Inclusive, but in fact the price includes a plate of pasta, coleslaw, bread and grilled chicken.
Free drinks are provided: Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, mineral water. For chips, beer, Turkish vodka and other alcohol you will need to pay extra separately.
Before selling the excursion, the Turks often promise a Russian-speaking guide on the yacht, but he is often not in practice.
It turns out that he "got sick" or "urgently left for Russia." Therefore, tourists will receive basic information in English. For example, the yacht's anchorage time. The staff communicating with passengers speaks passable English.
The yacht is two-storied, on the first tier there is a bar-restaurant, and on the second there are sun beds with mattresses. The awning is stretched to protect from the sun. Music plays, which is often heard from the very shore. This is necessary both for the entertainment of passengers and for attracting new tourists.
How long is the excursion? Yacht stops
The excursion lasts 6-7 hours, during this time there are 5-6 stops. When stopping in bays, the yacht will swim 10-20 meters to the shore, tourists will be offered to sail the remaining distance to the beach on their own.
The water in the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas is very clear, so even at a depth of 5-7 meters you can easily see the stones at the bottom. There are very few algae and jellyfish, but the water is salty. The yacht is equipped with a fresh water shower, thanks to which you can immediately wash off the sea salt. We need to prepare for the fact that in April-May and September-October the water may still be cold.
Stops last 15-20 minutes, this time is enough to swim to the rocky coast. It is allowed to jump from the side of the yacht only if the vessel is at a depth of at least 5 meters. The captain will warn you about this.
The longest stop of the yacht is provided in Turunce, this is a remote area of Marmaris. There are no special attractions here, except for a few monuments. You can visit the oriental bazaar, eat the signature Turkish ice cream - dondurma, sit on a bench in the shade of pine trees.
An interesting stop is near small caves. Next to them, the guide will offer to throw a coin and make a wish.
After the end of the excursion, the yacht will return to Marmaris where she sailed from.
