How to spend a holiday in Cyprus

Cyprus might not be high on many people’s lists of holiday destinations, but it should be. As a center for culture and history, the island is full of awe-inspiring things to see and do. We have put together a list of our favorite places to visit during your time here so that you can experience as much as possible!

Paphos

Paphos is the second largest city in Cyprus and a good base for exploring the rest of the island. It has a rich history and many ancient ruins to explore, including an amphitheatre, theatre, stadium and temples. There are also plenty of things to do when you're not exploring ruins: restaurants with great food and drink; shops selling handmade goods; markets full of fresh produce; museums showcasing local culture (and dinosaurs).

The city is known for its beautiful gardens and parks, including the Venetian Garden, which has a pond full of flamingos. It also has plenty of beaches, including the long sandy beach at Pissouri Bay.

The city itself is divided into two parts, the old part and the new town. The old part has winding streets lined with shops, restaurants and bars. There are also plenty of churches to visit in this area, including St. Hilarion's Church and Ayia Napa Chapel of Agios Georgios.

Yeroskipou

Yeroskipou is a small village in the Paphos District of Cyprus. It is a popular tourist destination, with many beaches nearby and a small harbour. There are many restaurants and bars in Yeroskipou, as well as hotels if you want to stay overnight.

Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa is a town in Cyprus, close to Limassol and Larnaca. It's known for its lively nightlife and sandy beaches, which are popular with young people. The town has many bars and clubs, making it ideal for those who want to party while they're on holiday in Cyprus!

The airport is just 30 minutes away by car so you can get there easily if you want to spend some time exploring Ayia Napa before heading off somewhere else on the island - or even flying off somewhere else altogether!

Limassol

Limassol is the second largest city in Cyprus and is known as the "city of smiles". It has a beautiful beachfront and is a great place to relax. There are many hotels and restaurants in this area.

There are many things to do in Larnaca, including the following:

  • Visit the Larnaca Salt Lake Museum 
  • Take a boat trip on the lake that surrounds the city 
  • Go swimming at Eftalou Beach

Larnaca

is the second largest city on the island, and it's an ideal place for you to spend your holiday. There are plenty of beaches and restaurants where you can relax in the sun, as well as bars that offer live music.

There are also many things to do in Larnaca:

  • Visit Apollo Beach (the longest beach in Cyprus) or Ayia Napa Beach (the most popular tourist destination)
  • Go diving off Akrotiri Peninsula with its underwater caves and shipwrecks from World War II
  • Visit Stavros tou Morou Monastery built in 1448 by Egyptian monks who fled their country after an invasion by Muslims

Protaras

Protaras is a coastal town in the Ayia Napa area of Cyprus. It is a popular beach resort with many hotels, cafes and restaurants. The beach is sandy and has a promenade.

There are several bars and nightclubs on the beachfront. The town has a number of shops and supermarkets, including branches of Tesco, Lidl and Carrefour.

The town is close to the resort of Ayia Napa, which is known for its nightlife. The bus station is located in the centre of Larnaca, with services to Nicosia and Limassol. There are also buses from Larnaca airport to Paphos and Famagusta.

You can even rent bicycles at many hotels for exploring nearby villages or towns like Larnaca or Famagusta (the old capital).

Cyprus is also known for its relaxing atmosphere so there's no need to rush off anywhere else once you've arrived at your hotel in Cyprus!
