Catalan mosaic. One day in Barcelona at the top of Tibidabo

Barcelona is surrounded by a mountain range that separates the city from the interior of Catalonia. Beautiful views of the city open from Mount Montjuic, from the height of Park Guell, from the top of Tibidabo.

Christ opened his arms over Barcelona from the height of the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Christ on Mount Tibidabo. The temple is the Barcelona answer to the Parisian Church of the Sacred Heart on Momartre. And the gilded statue of Christ is the same as the famous white monument to the creator in Rio de Janeiro.

You can take an elevator up to the statue itself and freeze for a long time from the panorama of Barcelona that opens up.

How to get to Tibidabo

From Plaza Catalunya, there is a T2 bus and an FCG L7 train to Avigunda Tibidabo station. Here you can take a blue tram that climbs the hill and climb to the very top on a funicular.

The most fun way to get to Tibidabo Park is to walk up the hill along the mountain road. Take the metro (line L3 green line) at Plaza Catalunya or Liceu station, near the Columbus monument, and get off at Mundet metro station. Further, passing through the university town - campus, go uphill along the serpentine. With every turn of the mountain forest road, a stunning panorama of the city will open up. And on the other side, from the height of a wooded hill, you will see the picturesque plain with the suburbs of Barcelona.

Tibidabo rides

The fact that the road is approaching the Tibidabo Park becomes clear long before due to the admiring exclamations and laughter of the riders. And overhead the cabins of the cable car are briskly scurrying about.

The amusement park is interesting in that it has preserved the old appearance of the attractions of the 20th century.

You can choose a ticket to visit the park:
- to enter, to walk along the alleys, look at the riders and take pictures of the panorama of the city and the sea on the horizon;
- buy a ticket for several attractions, for example, ride the Muntagna Russa, roller-sledges, or visit the horror pavilion “Hotel Kruger”, where Hannibal Lector, in company with Dracula and others, will make a “nightmarish” company;
- buy a ticket that gives you the right to spend the whole day in the park and not miss a single attraction.

Puppet shows are organized for children in the Marionetarium (puppet theater).

Walking around the neighborhood

Mountain roads lead to the TV tower of Barcelona - Collserole, towering over the city. You can get to the very top of the tower by lift. From here, a view of Barcelona with its cubed quarters and the unique Temple of the Sagrada Familia opens up, the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Christ with Christ soaring over Barcelona and the surrounding towns and villages scattered along the hillsides. And on the horizon is the turquoise line of the sea.

There is a park around the tower and an observatory nearby.

If you go down the hill through the park, you can see unusual southern plants and water bodies. A tram-train with painted carriages will sweep by. Downstairs there is a bus stop, from which the bus will go down, through the whole city, to the area of Layetana Street.

Nearby, on Avinguda Tibidabo, stands the Museum of the History of Science, with a huge swinging Foucault monument, a planetarium and halls of optics, perspective, color effects, a living planet. Here you can conduct experiments, wind up mechanisms, press any buttons and thus study physical phenomena.

Tibidabo will allow you to spend an extraordinary day in Barcelona.
